Welded Aluminium Products – Important Notice and Product Characteristics

The following information applies to all MW welded aluminium products, including but not limited to canopies, toolboxes, trays, accessories, and any custom-made items. By placing an order, the customer acknowledges and accepts the inherent characteristics, limitations, and design principles outlined below.

1. Nature of Welded Aluminium Construction
  • All MW aluminium products are manufactured using welding processes. Minor deformation, thermal movement, or surface irregularities arising from welding are inherent and unavoidable. Such characteristics do not constitute defects and must be expected as part of normal welded aluminium fabrication.
2. Permissible Tolerances
  • In accordance with accepted industry practice, a dimensional tolerance of ±5 mm applies to all welded components. Variations within this tolerance range are deemed compliant and are not grounds for repair, replacement, or claim.
3. Surface Irregularities on Welded Panels
  • Roof sheets, side walls, front and rear walls, and tray decks may display minor undulation or waviness resulting from welding heat input. These effects represent normal behaviour of aluminium under welding conditions and do not affect performance, structural integrity, or longevity.
4. Non-Structural Decorative Components
  • Components without structural load requirements (including but not limited to wind deflectors and trims) may exhibit slight surface waviness or distortion after welding. These are normal outcomes and do not constitute manufacturing defects.
5. Design Compliance and Customisation Limits
  • Custom-made orders relate strictly to dimensional adjustments. No alterations to MW’s engineering design, structure, or construction methodology are permitted. All products must remain fully compliant with MW’s proprietary design principles.
6. Edge Finishing Requirements
  • In accordance with AS/NZS 4024, metal edges under 1 mm require chamfering or deburring. For aluminium plates thicker than 2.5 mm, MW applies edge finishing only where determined necessary by MW’s engineering design. Customer-requested alterations outside MW’s design scope will not be accommodated.
7. Gaps, Clearances, and Vehicle Flex
  • Door gaps, panel clearances, and join tolerances are purposefully designed to accommodate operational vibration, road resonance, and vehicle chassis flex. Variations within industry-standard tolerances (up to 5 mm) are considered normal and not defects.
8. Stainless Steel Fasteners – Surface Staining
9. Technical Interpretation Rights
  • Where no specific industry standard applies, MW retains full and exclusive interpretive authority regarding product characteristics, acceptable tolerances, and the evaluation of any alleged defects.
10. Unpainted Raw Finish Products
  • Unpainted raw-finish products may exhibit visible marks, scratches, tooling traces, or surface inconsistencies arising naturally from fabrication, handling, and welding processes. These characteristics are inherent to raw aluminium and do not constitute defects. Such imperfections are excluded from warranty coverage.
  • MW Manufacturing WA strongly recommends powder coating or painting to achieve an enhanced aesthetic finish and improved durability.
11. Canopy Door and Rubber Seal Design
  • As part of the design, to ensure optimal dust protection and full contact between the rubber seal and the door, the rubber lip is already nearly flush with the frame, so the doors are intentionally designed to protrude slightly beyond the canopy frame.
  • This feature is a carefully considered key design element and should not be understood or regarded as a defect in manufacture, workmanship, or product quality.
